bandwidth issues are the name of the game this month - hopefully it should be sorted out in the next few weeks, so stay with us. the site is proving a lot more popular than we first expected, which is only good news I suppose ...

sonic youth - pink stream (mp3)

so much has been said of sonic youth that it's hard to know where to start. described by themselves as "the new beatles, but nobody knows it", or by others as "the biggest band never to sell out", they've stayed true to their early 80's nyc no wave roots throughout a long career spanning almost 25 years, and still to this day they continue to be a band that mean so much to so many.

june 13th sees the release of rather ripped, the follow-up to 2004's sonic nurse, and their 20th "proper" album to date. as i was only coming out of nappies whilst their musical career was blossoming i've not been a fan for as long as most, but early listens have not failed to impress, and it's a testament to their supreme talent that they can continue to wow music lovers after such a long career. this is one of the many new amazing tracks, coming just before the album's gentle conclusion.

more bang for your buck - after just listening to sonic nurse again, i felt compelled to post a recent classic - enjoy.

joel martin disco mix from january 2006 (mp3)

here's an hour long radio show broadcast on resonance fm from earlier in the year from the other resident of quiet village joel martin, aka dj zeus. joel has spent a large part of the last few years obsessed with the undead - he was the music supervisor for the belly-bursting shaun of the dead movie, compiled trunk records long overdue collection of incidental music from dawn of the dead, and as part of quiet village created the cult "fragments of fear" mix last halloween. this mix should give you a little idea of what to expect come saturday, and after finding the tracklisting i was swifltly hovering over to my ebay bookmark - i predict you'll soon be doing the same ...

  • johnny mathis - life is a song worth singing
  • henry mancini - african symphony
  • van mccoy - spanish boogie
  • the temptations - law of the land
  • isaac hayes - theme from "the man"
  • dennis coffey - taurus
  • labelle - what can i do for you
  • taj mahal - why...and we repeat, why?
  • sins of satan - dance and free your mind
  • originals - down to love town
  • kokomo - use your imagination
  • dazzle - you dazzle me
  • archie bell - let's groove
  • candido - 1,000 finger man
