the youth of today

sonic youth - pink stream (mp3)

so much has been said of sonic youth that it's hard to know where to start. described by themselves as "the new beatles, but nobody knows it", or by others as "the biggest band never to sell out", they've stayed true to their early 80's nyc no wave roots throughout a long career spanning almost 25 years, and still to this day they continue to be a band that mean so much to so many.

june 13th sees the release of rather ripped, the follow-up to 2004's sonic nurse, and their 20th "proper" album to date. as i was only coming out of nappies whilst their musical career was blossoming i've not been a fan for as long as most, but early listens have not failed to impress, and it's a testament to their supreme talent that they can continue to wow music lovers after such a long career. this is one of the many new amazing tracks, coming just before the album's gentle conclusion.

more bang for your buck - after just listening to sonic nurse again, i felt compelled to post a recent classic - enjoy.
