double fantasy - children of the universe (mp3)
quiet village - drax (mp3)
here at best foot forward we're strong belivers in the age old adage of "talent borrows, genius steals", and courtesy of our upcoming guests, here's a perfect example. a large amount of the quiet village output is based around samples of long-forgotten records from the likes of balearic demi-god demis roussos or seventies soulsters the chi-lites and these original compositions are then carefully re-edited, crafted and moulded into unique entities, like "drax", based around a track from an old robert schröder side project.

kate bush - king of the mountain (radio slave mix) (mp3)
and so begins the build-up to our first birthday shenanigans! if you've been keeping an eye on our "next guest spot" column, or spotted any of the posters around manchester, you'll know we're humbled to have quiet village coming up for our 6th may celebrations. in light of this, i'm hoping to crank out a good few posts in the run up touching on some of their high points, and a maybe a few of ours over the last 12 months too, starting with this. for the last few years radio slave, one half of quiet village, have released a double cd of their underground remixes at the miami winter music conference, and this year brought further delights. one of the major highs was matt edwards' remix of the freaky but fabulous kate bush, so far only heard by a limited lucky few. this is very unlikely ever to see the light of day, and is a shining example of his brillaint remixer's touch, adding enough to take a track from home into the club, whilst retaining the ethereal magic of the original.
more goodies to come soon ...

high feelings - leave norway (mp3)
so a moonboots secret weapon finally sees the light of day, but only for the lucky few quick enough to grab one of the 200 copies released. this is one of the tracks from the new 12" from high feelings records (no website as of yet sorry!), and is a beach boys inspired sing-a-long, apparently by norwegian rockers motorpsycho. whilst the disco re-edit train seems like it is beginning to run out of steam, forward-thinking tinkerers like the high feelings chaps and brighton-based quiet village are keeping those in-the-know on our toes. the next 12" from these guys are a pair of balearic beauties, with one in particular sounding like a lost ash ra treasure.
if you were very sharp you might have bought one here, but if not you better head over here and get those fingers crossed.
