status iv - you ain't really down (jazzanova's hey baby remix) (mp3)

we'll continue the recurring theme of playing records that we like by posting a track that's received a rapturous reception down at bff on a few occasions now. it's not a track that does a lot, but what it does do is absolutely beyond compare, with jazzanova taking a 20 year old track from status iv and applying their trademark tech-jazz template.

mark has had a run-in with the german nu-jazz pioneers a while back, who were lovely enough to send him a replacement cardboard sleeve for his "remixes 1997-2000" (which contains, amongst other bombs, their remixes of ian pooley's "what's my number" and mj cole's "sincere"). he emailed them a true-life sob-story of how his mum threw it in the bin one afternoon when she was cleaning up his room and bless them, they even threw in some free sonar kollektiv cd's too!

so in summary - best foot forward ♥s jazzanova!
