slaves to the rhythm

blonde redhead - in particular (radio slave remix) (mp3)

radio slave first came to prominence back in late 2001/early 2002 with various white label remixes of big tracks of the time - kylie's "can't get you out of my head" and nelly's "hot in herre" being two fine examples. after a healthy underground gestation period people began to catch on to this fantastic london based two-piece, and their popularity dramatically increased in 2003 after a fantastic essential mix which captured the party atmosphere dj style that was becoming popular at the time, dropping electro tracks next to pop hits right alongside hip-hop monsters, all in their own inimitable style.

this track is taken from their radio slave showreel which appeared at the miami music conference last year, which included new productions alongside various remixes (including the quickly-bootlegged carl craig "darkness" remix, which led mr c2c4 to remix the track himself!). the 2 x cd showreel is now going for some pretty pennies on ebay, and it's well worth it.

now split and handling their own projects (with matt edwards planning a few more releases from his superlative-defying quiet village project and slow-mo disco alias rekid) it can only be hoped that future productions can keep up the high levels of originality and quality seen in their early work.

and if there's anyone still reading this sorry about the lack of an update for a while, but moonboots was really really really good, and we've been recovering ever since (and i think mark's bank balance has taken a bit of a hammering from his ebay escapades to buy up all the rare records he spotted in moon's box).

oh and finally, the delia gonzales and gavin russon album is out today on dfa. buy it now, because it could quite possibly be the best dfa longplayer you buy all year (and yes, that includes lcd soundystem and juan maclean).
